Glad you like my latest wall! The background was from the original scan: http://img71.imageshack.us/img71/1577/minitokyofemalescansairpt5.jpgI just scaled it up and cleaned it, painting over it and smudging. Got one complaint about it being blurry. :S it was blurrier than that in the original scan!

Regarding your question on how to achieve the dot effects in my wallpaper, it's quite simple.

1. Create a base layer and fill it with color (light pink on my wall)
2. Create another blank layer and enter QUICK MASK MODE (Hotkey: Q)
3. Select gradient tool (Hotkey: G) and drag along the quick masked canvas.
4. Go to FILTER > PIXELLATE > COLOR HALF TONE
5. Enter value in MAX RADIUS to control how big you want the dots to be and press ENTER
6. Exit QUICK MASK MODE (Hotkey: Q again ).
7. Fill the selection with color of your choice.

If the wrong area is being filled, just UNDO (CTRL+Z) and invert selection (CTRL+SHIFT+I) and fill selection.

oh.. lol.. me too.. i work on my wall for only 5-7 hours.. but i dont submit it after i finish.. coz i want it to be perfect.. but my walls arent that perfect.

Hey thanks for the comment on my wall. For the sky and grass I pretty much just used brushes. On the sky I did filter-render-clouds and then I changed the hue and saturation then I just used star and a moon brushes. And for the grass all I did was use a grass brush. Well then take care!

ah ah no i'm not THAT mad to vector Revi... well i could have but would have been useless, i had an awesome scan to work with, so.. why bother? well the scan originally was cloured, but i put it in BxW to have the right feeling on my wall :) if it interests u, know that i'm working on another black lagoon wall that will kick asses twice more :p thx for the fav btw

I use Photoshop CS. It seems you have done vectors yourself. =) And you have already made 13 wallpapers, I see. Twice as much sa mine. >_< Thanks for the +Fav, btw.

actually, the glow was the easy part. and you'll probably laughw hen you hear just how easy it was. i used the airbrush tool, and painted over the top of him, making sure the edge of his body was in the middle, and then lowered the opacity. the reason why it looks so good is because i made sure his body was lit so that it would work. that and the light coming down on top also helped make it make sense. it's just a matter of making everything work together. because it could have looked really cheesy if i hadn't made sure the lighting was correct x_x

Thanks for the compliment :). It's all done with photoshop actually - I don't have illustrator :).

Some people swear by photoshop, others like illustrator better. It's really a matter of preference. The only thing is, photoshop doesn't do 'real' vectors (except maybe text), so the editability is somewhat limited. Regardless of what you use, practice with the pen tool...
